How to Dress for those Cold Spring Break Nights

It's finally SPRING BREAK.  And we're all off to the beach and ready for the sun to gleam off our skin and the wind to blow our hair.  At night however, we like to go out to dinner and outside bars/clubs and dance to wild music with our drinks in the air.  But you end up like this :

But no worries, I have the perfect outfit solution for you while still looking fabulously summery.  It's amazing how accessorizing a cardigan can add warmth and comfort all in one.
This cardigan, from Forever 21, is extremely stylish, light, and can match with multiple other outfits. Pair a bright green tank and high wasted black shorts and this cardi will still help you rock your night.
Another necessity you'll need for those spring break chills is a scarf that goes with all of your outfits.
This blush scarf, also from Forever 21, can go with most outfits in your bag.  Pack this along with your cardi and you're almost set for your trip.  But one very important last thing.
Heeled booties.  A woman's best friend-they're like the wedges of winter.  As long as those toes are pretty in pink and and covered with amazing booties that lift your thighs to the perfect height making you feel invisible all the while adding comfort and playfulness.
These simple and beautiful booties, from The Red Dress Boutique, will totally keep you warm while adding to your spirit and warmth while you rock that party.

Are you Food Happy?

I have two questions for you:
1. How do you feel after eating that calorie/carb filled meal at McDonalds or BK? Or how about even O'Charley's?
2. How do you feel after eating a meal filled with fruits, meat, and vegetables?
Okay so that was technically three questions but whose counting? Anyway I have BOTH of your answers:
1. You feel full, sick, weak, you want to lay down, you're a happy satisfied but your stomach feels as if it's going to pop open and seep out.
2. You feel happy, light, you have more energy, you smile more, and you feel like you've been more successful.
And now I'll tell you why you feel those ways.
1. The "bad" carbs and fats that are consumed in your meal starve your cells of air, the large consumption you just ate have stretched your stomach pouch out {which basically means you're technically making your stomach bigger}, you feel satisfied because you've satisfied {temporarily} your craving of {horrible} carbs {because you're addicted to them}, and you're weak because you're body is working in overtime to try to process each thing you've just put into your waste basket {aka your stomach}.
2.  You feel happy because you've seen articles like these that tell you how to eat healthy and what it means so you've accomplished something more than just eating a fat-filled meal.  You feel satisfied because you have literally satisfied all of the food groups your body needs for that meal and not only were they rich in nutrients and what I like to call {good carbs} but they also filled you with water {from the fruit}, protein {from the meat}, and vitamins {from the vegetables}.

Now which one sounds happier to you?  Young adulthood is the prime-time of your life AND body and it needs certain foods to stay healthy and happy {because you're metabolism is slowing down}.

Try adding less of the bottom and top servings and more of the 4 middle groups.

Treat your body and your mood.

15 Amazing Meals with Only 9 Foods

When you get into college money starts to become a problem (or well any financially downfall in your life).  So you start trying to find ways to save money, make money, etc etc.  And then you start complaining about how much food costs and it's all down hill from there.  But now I have the food list that just keeps on giving.

1. Frozen fruit
2. Soft Tortilla Shells
3. Sandwich meat
4. Cheese
5. Peanut Butter (Almond Butter)
6. Eggs
7. Oats
8. Yogurt
9. Applesauce
+ {coffee}

The first item I encourage you to buy in order to save money is coffee.  You need it, you deserve it, and it's best at Starbucks.  But it's also extremely expensive to go to Starbucks every morning or any other place that serves deluxe coffee.  Buying already ground coffee to be made with your home coffee maker can cut down your every day costs by an estimated 8 dollars a week by simply buying the Starbucks Breakfast Blend ground coffee bag and that's IF you only get a small regular coffee every morning at Starbucks.

Meals:

Fruit and Yogurt Tortilla Breakfast Burrito :  Lay your soft tortilla shell out onto a plate and spread yogurt all over the tortilla.  Then take your favorite fruit mix out of the frozen fruit bag and place fruit all over the tortilla.  When you have as much as you want roll the tortilla up like a burrito and you have yourself your very own amazing breakfast burrito.  And if you have yogurt left pop some of your fruit into the bowl and finish it off too!

Oatmeal: Obviously you can make oatmeal with oats but by buying single oats you can make it just the way you want it.  Whether it be apple pie oatmeal (made with the apple pie spice and cinnamon) or the traditional brown sugar oatmeal you can change it up every morning.

Yogurt Oats:  Oats are extremely good for you as well as yogurt.  Instead of using granola you can use oats in your yogurt for a healthy filling meal.

Peanut Butter and Fruit Burrito:  Spread peanut butter (or if you're looking for a healthier alternative or you have a peanut allergy use almond butter).  Afterwards put fruit such as apple slices or banana slices on the butter and roll the
tortilla shell up.

Peanut Butter Apple Sauce Burrito: Once again for a healthier or non-allegenic reaction you can use almond butter.  Spread the butter and applesauce on the tortilla shells and roll them up for another burrito.

Peanut Butter Fruit Snack: Use the peanut butter as a dipping sauce for your favorite frozen fruit.

Peanut Butter Oat Burrito:  Mix oats into your peanut butter to spread over your soft shell for an afternoon snack or breakfast.  Dip this burrito into apple sauce if you want something sweet to add to your meal.

Sandwich Burrito:  Once you have your favorite sandwich meat put some on top of the shell and add cheese accordingly.  Roll the burrito up and you have yourself lunch.

Eggs:  Obviously you can make eggs with well eggs.  But think about all of the different kinds.  You have boiled, sunny side up, scrambled, and over-easy.

Eggs and cheese: The perfect dish to satisfy your protein and diary needs.

Apple Sauce and Fruit Snack:  Use apple sauce as your dipping sauce for your favorite fruit.

Yogurt Fruit Cup: Add fruit to your yogurt cup to get more satisfaction out of your meal or snack.

Egg and Cheese Tortilla:  If you really want an interesting breakfast burrito scramble some eggs and sprinkle cheese on them to put in your tortilla shell.

Omelet: You can make an amazing omelet with your choice of sandwich meat, cheese, and eggs (of coarse).

Omelet burrito:  Put your favorite omelet into a burrito and take breakfast (or dinner) on the go.

6 Ways to Beat the Monday Blues

As we begin to open our eyes and get ready to start back into the real world on this Monday morning we must be open minded, we must have clear minds, and most of all we must make the most out of today.  I've talked a lot about dreadful Mondays but not enough about how to beat them.  So to get you started on this fresh and wonderful Monday I have thought of a few ways to help you, and me, overcome this dreadful Monday.

1. Eat an amazing breakfast.  There is nothing like having a wonderful, nutrient rich breakfast!  This morning I put together an amazing one! I toasted wheat bread on high and then spread Almond Butter on top of it and sprinkled some very rich in Omegas Chia Seeds and then topped it off with amazing Apple Sauce.  I also had brown sugar oat meal with it to hit the spot and to keep me full until the lunch hour.  Having a great breakfast not only nourishes you but also helps start your system off for the day.

2.  Drink Coffee.  This one is my favorite because it gets me going in the morning and isn't as bad for me as Red Bull or other energy drinks. The key is having the right kind of delicious creamer to go with it.  I would highly recommend Nestle's Hazelnut Coffee-mate 2Go or either their French Vanilla Coffee -mate - it's extremely delicious but not high in calories and is just what you need on a Monday to get you on your feet.

3. Exercise first thing in the morning.  Working out first thing in the morning rejuvenates you and gets your system pumping for the day.  It's a great way to help you wake up as well as getting you in the "work mode". It also makes you feel great about yourself for the day and you don't have to dread working out at the end of your day.

4. Sing on your way to work or school. (But not if you're walking to class please, for all of us)  Singing can make you feel happy and get your heart beating. It can lift your mood and that's exactly what you need when you start your Monday.

5. Check out iFunny. Getting your smile perky and your laugh loud will definitely have a positive outcome on your day.  Even though your roommate may find you weird for laughing so early in the morning you'll be smiling for the rest of the day.

6. Think about how great your weekend is going to be once you get all of this work out of the way. Just think how amazing it's going to feel when you sleep in on Saturday knowing you don't have to be up for anything in particular. The climb may be hard but the view is well worth it.

So let's face this Monday with our heads held high and our feet firmly planted, a smile on our face, and a thought about the beautiful weekend ahead of us.

Reasons why you NEED New Girl in your life

Everyone needs a little Netflix binge every once in a while, but I've taken my binges to an extreme but only for you guys.  Throughout the next few months I'll be able to supply you with the most interesting shows to binge on.  But for now you must watch New Girl and I'm about to show you why.

Well there's this girl and obviously she's cool.  But no, really. Zooey Deschanel is amazing in every scene.  She's heartbroken and moves into an apartment with 3 guys. You can only imagine how funny this might be considering Jess (her name in the show) is a girly girl from Princessville.

You get to indulge yourself with these men.  (At least sometimes they're cute) Sometimes you're totally disgusted by the amount of testosterone they express but it's totally hot at the end of the day because they're all just big teddy bears looking for love.

There might just be a love story embedded within the show and the tension between them drives you insane.  And they are so freaking cute! You'll fall in love.

Jess will make you feel better about your irrational PMS outburst.

You'll start seeing life in a new perspective with the help of OCD Schmidt. He's cute AND he cleans. What more could you ask for?

You'll get to see how models get down and just how they come to be models.  And learn some really great moves.

You'll finally get to see what teachers do in there spare time.  And it's totally not what you expected.

If you don't have 3 brothers then you'll finally see what it's like to live with a bunch of men and how it makes you act.  But it's not as bad as it looks, it makes you stronger, really.

You'll finally understand what it's like to have a family that's not biological.  It's so precious too.
I spend hours watching and laughing.  And you should too.

Pancake Muffins for National Pancake Day/Every Other Day

I'm sure you all already know but in case you didn't know yesterday was NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY.  My 3rd FAV day of the year, second to Christmas and my birthday.  iHop gave out FREE pancakes and if you're like me then you probably didn't get to go indulge in delicious FREE pancakes.  Free is the keyword here.  Anyhow, so I still wanted to celebrate. But my first attempt at making pancakes really sucked.

Yeah, it seriously sucked. My pancakes were not beautiful like the ones at iHop or Waffle House or Cracker Barrel.  I just couldn't make a beautiful pancake no matter how hard I tried.

Then I had this amazing idea to replicate my favorite breakfast muffin recipe (Sausage and cheese bites).  I took a pound of breakfast sausage and scrambled it, then I took bisquick and mixed a cup and a half with 1 cup of milk and 2 eggs, and mixed in the pound of cooked sausage (promise me you won't use uncooked sausage, please).  And in a few of them I put some blueberries in with the mix, because I was feeling a little dangerous and then popped them in the oven on 350 degrees until they were golden brown (probably about 20 minutes).  When they came out I took a syringe and filled it with hot Maple Syrup and injected these sausage pancake muffins with syrup (can I just say yum?).

Then I took my experiment a little further with only using blueberries the bisquick pancake mix.  I made them in the small muffin pan so they would come out bite size and then injected them with maple syrup as well.  These could be your newest (and most certainly delicious) addiction. The BEST PART is these don't take much time and are super easy to heat up the next morning for breakfast.  The sausage ones took 20 minutes to prepare where the plain blueberry pancake muffins only took 10 minutes.  It's amazing how simple they are!
